I am an INFJ.
Today is the start of my Spring Break! Actually its tomorrow, but I'm already off school.
To Ray: I'm still in community college. I will be in school & gradschool at least until I'm 27-28. So, I have a minimum of 5 years left in school before I start a "career." Most people here will already have jobs, etc. while I'll still be in school so it sucks kinda, but its ok.
No new books... and haven't been to a movie in a while.
I have a question for everyone who is Chinese:
At any point in your life, were you ever ashamed to be Chinese? Did you ever want to be white? Did you ever try desperately to fit in among whites, or another ethnicity?
Thru casual conversation and unscientific research, I have discovered that many American Chinese do go thru a period of self-hatred, especially among females. The phase usually starts in middle school and high school when people become more self-conscious.
I ask because this past weekend, I met a 16 year old boy who is Chinese and 1/16th Jewish. Yes, he is 6.25% Jewish. I asked him, "Hey are you Chinese?" He told me "No, I'm JEWISH and Chinese." So, I'm thinking "No way," because he looks nothing but Chinese. Then I ask what percentage Jewish he is, and he responds "6.25%"
How stupid is that, right? The dude is about as Jewish as Black Americans are white. Everybody is 1/16th of something... he's probably 1/16th of other stuff too, but doesn't want to mention it. The point is, this guy is trying desperately to be something other than Chinese. This is not the only example I have, but is the most recent.
So anyway, I just want to figure out the reasonings behind this phenomena... even if you never went thru that phase, can you sorta guess why it happens?
